How do I request a book from another library?

Answer

You can request items from local HELIN libraries from directly within the online library catalog (accessed via the main default search box on the library home page) by using the "Request from HELIN" button, which is located on the right hand side of the page in an individual book's catalog record. Or, if an item is not available through HELIN, use the "Request thru Interlibrary Loan" button to request the book from libraries outside of the HELIN Consortium.

HELIN items are delivered twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays, so they will take around 2-3 business days to arrive. You will be notified when they arrive  by Salve email. Items can be picked up at the front desk. Interlibrary loan books take longer to arrive depending up on the distance of the lending library as they are sent by US Mail.

What is HELIN?

McKillop Library is a member of a group of academic libraries called HELIN, the Higher Education Library Information Network, which extends reciprocal borrowing privileges to active faculty, students, and staff of the Community College of Rhode Island, Johnson and Wales University(Providence branches), Providence College, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, and Wheaton College. The books of all these libraries are included in the online catalog. HELIN faculty, staff, and students must have their University/College ID with them in order to check out library material.
