How do I find out if the library has access to a specific journal or magazine title?
Answer
Use Journal Titles Search Tool
- From the McKillop Library homepage, select Journal Titles located below the search box.
- Within the tool, set the search button to "Journals" and then select the "Search Type" setting that best suits your needs.
If you use the default search type, "Starts with," you only need to know the most common word for the title, rather than the exact title. For example, to search for the magazine, The Atlantic, simply type in Atlantic and the title you are seeking will appear, if we subscribe to it. There may be additional periodicals with the name, Atlantic, so scroll the results to find the one you want. If the title you seek does not appear, we most likely do not have a subscription to it.
Locate Title and View Coverage
When you click on the title of a journal or magazine, the screen will split to display details about access, such as whether it is full-text, the date range we have access to, whether it is in print or available online, etc. If you would like to search within the journal, click on the linked journal title.
From this point, the search interfaces for each journal vary widely. If you're having trouble navigating your search within an individual journal, contact the library via chat during our operating hours or email, and we'll be happy to help you!
If we do not subscribe to the journal that you need, please use interlibrary loan.
Note that searching for Journal Titles only finds whether or not McKillop Library offers access to that particular title and if so, in what format. The Journal Search does not search for articles -- to search for articles, go to our databases a-z page.
