How do I find information on Salve’s buildings?

Answer

The university describes each building and gives a brief overview of its history on the main Salve Regina website.

The University Archives and Special Collections (UASC) maintains a guide to the seven estates that now make up Salve Regina’s campus. You can find photos of the buildings throughout the years in our Salve Archives Photographs digital collection. You can search for specific buildings and also select the Architecture and City Planning Classification from the Refine Results panel to help filter the images.

UASC does not have historical materials or primary sources related to most buildings before their acquisition by Salve Regina. The exception is the Goelet Family Papers collection.

The archives holds a collection of property records and documentation related to them which are accessible by appointment. If you have questions about Salve’s physical landscape, you can contact archives@salve.edu. The archivist can help you research using the collections at Salve and will try to point you to relevant historical materials at other institutions.
