Why won't the video I'm supposed to watch for my class play?

Troubleshooting play back problems with videos, movies, films, and documentaries on e-reserve.

Answer

If you are trying to watch a video that your professor has assigned for your class through Canvas or the library's reserves page and it won't play, there may be an issue with the browser you're using. Some videos on e-reserve for your class can't be accessed if you're using Safari, a web browser commonly available on Apple devices (iPhones, iPads, Mac laptops and desktops, etc.). If the video can't be played on Safari, you'll see a message box appear when you hover your mouse over the link (see below)

If you see this note, you'll need to use a different browser to view the video. We recommend Chrome or Firefox as the best options.

If you need further help accessing e-reserves content, check out the other FAQs linked below or contact us and we'll do our best to help resolve your issue.
